Means Test Algorithm

The value of each Scholarship awarded is determined by computing the Adjusted Disposal Assets (ADA) of the applicant’s household using the algorithm shown below.

Assets include

Cash, bank deposit, net value of properties owned (but excluding the unit resided in), securities, bonds, funds etc.

Household income will include

(1) Parents’ annual income, e.g. salary/bonus, (either full time or part-time), pension, rental income, investment income, profits and dividends from businesses, etc; and
(2) 30% of the annual income of unmarried siblings living in the same household.

Household Expenditure is calculated to include

(1) Annual school fees, net of scholarship or subsidies, of unmarried siblings living in the same household;
(2) Annual mortgage or rental payments of the unit resided in;
(3) Significant medical expenses of household members; and
(4) Annual living expenses, estimated to be HK$60,000 per household member
