If you have any questions about the Scholarship, the answers may be here already. Otherwise, you can contact us with your questions.
General /If I apply for the Scholarship, will it be more difficult for me to get an offer from Cambridge?
No, even if your application for the Scholarship is unsuccessful, you may still be offered a place at Cambridge.
General /Am I required to sign an undertaking if I accept the Scholarship?
General /Can I apply for other scholarships at the same time?
Yes, but if you are awarded other scholarships, the value of this scholarship may be adjusted accordingly.
General /How many students are awarded the scholarship each year?
It is a merit-based scholarship, so there is no quota. In some years more than eight students were awarded the scholarship, and in other years only one to two.
Selection Criteria /What kind of qualities are the interviewers looking for?
We are looking for students who we believe:
- have great academic ability and potential;
- will benefit from, and flourish in the Cambridge learning environment, and
- are best suited to the courses they have applied for.
Selections are based solely on academic criteria – your ability and your potential.
Selection Criteria /How important are extracurricular activities and leadership roles in schools?
Your participation (or not) in specific extra-curricular activities that are not relevant to the course applied for are not taken into account, and do not affect your chances. However, interviewers often ask about other interests or experiences that you mention in your application where they are of relevance to the course that you intend to study.
Eligibility /What is the minimum age at which the Scholarship accepts candidates?
There is no age requirement for the Scholarship. However, if you are under 18 on admission, you are encouraged to check the Cambridge website to see if you are subject to additional requirements and restrictions.
Eligibility /Must I be currently attending school to apply for the Scholarship?
Eligibility /Can I apply for the Scholarship a second time?
Yes, but not if you are already a university student.
Eligibility /What academic qualifications are acceptable to the Scholarship?
No preference is given to a particular examination system. HKDSE, GCE A-levels, IB and many other national examinations at an equivalent level are equally acceptable.
